Arunachal hydel project gets green nod

Overruling members of a high-power committee on wildlife, Environment Minister Jayanthi Natarajan has given the green signal for construction of a mega hydel project in Arunachal Pradesh on Lohit river, which originates in China.

Omar Abdullah government has accepted a cabinet sub committee report seeking buying back NHPC's three major power projects in J&K. In consultation with the state law ministry, the Power Development Corporation (PDC) has been asked to get the project value of the three projects that shall form the basis of negotiations with the hydro power giant.
